Dextrose is a monosaccharide, a simple sugar used in brewing to attain a natural carbonation via bottle conditioning. Dextrose is the fermentation sugar first utilized by yeast at the outset of fermentation, so by the end of fermentation it is rarely present in beer above sensory threshold.

Applications

  • Typically used for bottle-conditioning. Please refer the priming sugar calculations to add the desired amounts in your beer.
  • A common addition to help dry out the finish in highly hopped beers like Imperial IPAs, American Barleywines, Strong Belgian Ales etc.,

Usage – Roughly 25 grams of Corn Sugar per liter will boost ABV by 1%.
